Perform types of checks
A TCP portscan of a host.
A listing of shares via. samba / netbios.
Identification of vulnerable versions of server daemons, including Sendmail, IMAP, POP3, RPC status & RPC mountd.
Taking advantage of vulnerable components
Identify vulnerable network components & compromise the hosts.
Upon executing such a program remotely to exploit a vulnerable server daemon
Gain root access to your host.

‘clean-up‘ operation of doctoring your hosts logs
‘backdooring’ service binaries.
place an .rhosts file in the /usr/bin to allow remote bin access to the host via rsh & csh

Mengganti tulisan pada Start Menu (Win 98)
Windows Anda akan kelihatan lebih menarik jika tulisan-tulisan pada Start Menu diganti dengan tulisan yang lain.
Misalnya tulisan Start diganti dengan Mulai, Find diganti dengan cari, dll. Caranya pun cukup mudah,
Anda hanya perlu mengedit pada file C:Windowsexplorer.exe dengan hexa editor, misalnya Ultra Edit atau kalau
Anda menginstall Norton Utilities gunakan diskedit.exe.
Ada pun langkah2 komplitnya adalah sebagai berikut :
1. Copy file explorer.exe ke sembarang folder, misalnya ke C:.
2. Sekarang buka file explorer.exe hasil copy-an tadi dengan hexa editor kesayangan Anda.
3. Dari tabel di bawah ini cari posisi dari tulisan yang hendak Anda ganti. Misalnya Anda ingin mengganti tulisan
Shut Down. Pertama pindah ke posisi 000281e2h (untuk melihat posisi, perhatikan tulisan pada staturbar ultra edit,
terletak paling bawah). Kemudian ganti tulisan tersebut sesuai dengan yang Anda inginkan. Yang harus diperhatikan
adalah panjang tulisan tersebut harus sesuai dengan aslinya dan tiap huruf yang Anda tuliskan harus diselingi
dengan spasi (00h).
4. Kalau sudah restart komputer Anda ke mode DOS (restart in MS-DOS mode).
5. Rename file c:windowsexplorer.exe ke sembarang nama (misalnya explor.exe. Caranya ketik :
C:
C:cd windows
C:Windowsren explorer.exe explor.exe
6. Pindah lagi ke directory tempat Anda menyimpan file hasil copy-an explorer.exe (dalam contoh ialah C:).
Copy file hasil copy-an ke c:Windows. Caranya ketik :
C:Windowscd
C:copy explorer.exe c:windows
7. Masuk ke mode Windows dengan mengetikkan C:win dan tekan enter.

Beberapa tips dan registry dibawah ini cuma berlaku buat Windows XP.
Sebelum mengutak-atik Registry, ada baiknya melakukan backup terlebih dahulu.
1. Klik tombol Start > Run.
2. Ketik regedit dan tekan Enter setelah berada didalam jendela Run.
3. Didalam Registry Editor, pilih menu File > Export.
4. Setelah Export Registry File muncul, masukkan nama file ke bagian File Name, misalnya backup-registry dan sebagainya.
